Having proceeded for several kms until our track changed to a path, then the path changed to a field, we discovered that we had gone the wrong way! The valley we had unwittingly ascended, lead to Vignemale (3298m), and not Gavarnie! |

| We re-traced our steps, great mountain biking single track, to find the right way back to France. | |||||
| Now, on the right route... A very difficult ascent, most of this pushing the bicycle. | |||||
| Until finally we reach the summit, hungry, at 16:30. Several cars parked at the summit and incredulous hikers look at what we'd done. | |||||
| Let the descent into France begin! This was a long descent towards Luz St. Sauveur with plenty of opportunities taken to overtake cars and coaches. Maximum speed reached 49mph (nearly 80kmh). | |||||
